About NRLC Training Institute

NRLC has a well-equipped Training Institute at Jankipuram, Lucknow, furnished with modern facilities and hostel accommodation for trainees, thereby providing a conducive environment for learning, interaction, and professional development. The Institute is dedicated to strengthening the knowledge and practical skills of professionals engaged in the conservation of cultural property.

NRLC regularly conducts both long-term and short-term training programmes, including a rigorous six-month training course in the Conservation of Cultural Property. The Institute also organizes specialized workshops on preventive conservation of cultural property, as well as training programmes for students of Conservation, Museology, Archaeology, and related disciplines from universities and academic institutions across the country. The six-month training programme provides comprehensive theoretical and practical training in various aspects of cultural heritage conservation, including conservation techniques, preventive conservation, documentation, condition assessment, and appropriate preservation strategies. The programme is designed to develop professional competencies and equip trainees with the knowledge and practical skills required for the scientific conservation and long-term preservation of cultural property.

UNESCO has recognized NRLC as a training centre for conservation professionals from South and Southeast Asian countries. Over the years, NRLC has trained a large number of national and international conservation professionals, including conservators, conservation scientists and chemists, curators, museum directors, collection managers, and students and other early-career professionals.

In addition to its regular training programmes, NRLC has organized numerous national and international workshops, seminars, and conferences in collaboration with reputed international and national organizations and institutions, including ICCROM, ICOM-CC, KIK-IRPA, and SRAL. These programmes have provided important platforms for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and dissemination of advances in the field of cultural heritage conservation.

Focus of NRLC Training Institute

1. To build the capacity of conservation professionals by imparting practical, field-oriented training in the conservation of cultural property.

2. To address the need for specialized curricula in conservation and heritage management in universities and academic institutions across the country by offering short-term training courses.

3. To enhance and update the professional skills of museum personnel through specialized workshops and refresher training programmes conducted in response to the requirements of museums and other cultural institutions.
