The NRLC Library is a specialized resource center supporting research, scientific investigation and professional practice in the conservation of cultural property. It houses a distinctive collection of literature on conservation science, conservation techniques, materials and allied disciplines, catering to the information needs of scientists, conservators, researchers, students and heritage professionals. The library collection includes more than 10,000 books, 2,000 reprints, 400 microfiches, along with technical notes, monographs, brochures and journals covering various aspects of cultural heritage conservation and conservation science.

The library provides documentation and information services, including abstracting, indexing and reprography. It also facilitates access to specialized reference material and periodically compiles technical bibliographies on different materials, methods and aspects of conservation. A consolidated catalogue of periodicals held in the NRLC Library is also available to support researchers and professionals in locating relevant conservation literature.

More than 1000 books, 15 subscriptions to periodicals, and other publications providing specialist knowledge in the field of conservation science currently make up the laboratory's library's conservation holdings. By giving access to reference materials and conservation literature, an information center will be developed in the future to assist the laboratory's staff, the conservation community, and anybody else interested in this sector in southern India.

Through its specialized collection and documentation services, the library serves as an important knowledge resource for research, education, professional development and scientific conservation of cultural heritage.
