Shri Janhwij Sharma

Shri Janhwij Sharma has been serving as the Director General of the National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property (NRLC) since 27 December 2024, leading a multidisciplinary team of cultural heritage researchers, scientists, and conservators engaged in the scientific conservation and preservation of cultural property. An accomplished conservation architect, Shri Sharma has extensive professional experience in architectural conservation, archaeological monument conservation, and World Heritage management. He has been associated with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) since April 2008 and currently serves as Additional Director General (Conservation, World Heritage & NCF). Over the course of his career, he has been involved in major conservation initiatives across India, as well as international conservation projects undertaken by the ASI in Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, and the Maldives. His work encompasses the conservation and management of historic buildings and archaeological sites, documentation and assessment of heritage structures, and the development.
